I can't wait to see the episodes emerge, what a lovely idea!

Riven and XP Pro

I succumbed to the lure of advertising hype and bought the complete Myst collection recently, hoping to finally get all versions of Myst and Uru on the same computer. Not sure why - but I figured that my old Win95/Win98/DOS  machine just had to die or get turfed in the bin one day, even if not by me!

Surprise surprise, Riven didn't run. (so I now have three versions of Myst, two sets of everything else, three of Uru .... sigh!)

However, I was pointed in the direction of a Riven_Vista update patch that apparently replaces the Quicktime versions with the correct ones (plus other things) and it actually works! All I then needed to do was change the program properties to run in win 95 compatible mode, and all is well - so it can be made to work OK. The animations are noticeably blocky but apart from that, no problems.

If anyone needs the name of the download I will post it and to the rest of you who have already made it work - how do I skip the intro? Much as I love watching Atrus, I'm getting sick of sitting through the whole thing every time.

Second question - I'd rather run the program in half screen mode and get better picture quality but am (understandably) reluctant to mess about with things any more, I'm no great shakes as a computer whizz. Anyone know how to disable full screen in their Riven game?

(oops, perhaps I should have started a new topic in the Cyan forum for this? I'm sure Dr Chris or Sophia could fix that if they wish)
